Xubuntu is neat.
More apps available for KDE/Gnome than others.
Ubuntu has its rough edges still, especially in the install.
If you don’t know what you’re doing, get someone else to do the partitioning. PLEASE.
Automatix is a good idea. I hate it. Doesn’t work well enough.
Pidgin and Flock aren’t in the repos, and Opera looks like a WINE kludge. WTF?
Many things aren’t working ‘as advertised’… but it’s great for letting your parents on the ‘puter. No one can break anything. If they do, reinstall.
Doesn’t feel any lighter than KDE/PCLinuxOS 2007.
I might just end up installing K/Ubuntu, SAM Linux and OpenSUSE once each to check ‘em all out before settling down.
Beryl’s a pain in the neck… Guess I needs me a video card. But no money.
Don’t expect a full review.
Non linux things…
I think I’ll get Visual C++ Express and start the learning process.
Life’s slowed down. I like it.
Haven’t bought new books yet. Or football shoes… boots… studs… cleats?
It rained all week. I’m feeling great. And not going to the gym. Which means I’m in for it.
Jayalalitha announced “Kalam 4 prez!!!11 lol” yesterday afternoon. Ain’t gonna happen, but nice move anyway. She’s the leader of the enwly announced third front coalition UNPA.
Best quote of the conference? One of the opening sentences. [it's not verbatim, it's what I remember from watching it live]
… [The announcement for candidature of] Prathibha Patil by the UPA is a joke, played on the nation, by Mrs. Sonia Gandhi…
It’s like a big gong for a fight.
Who covered this live, of all the news channels? NDTV 24×7. What were the rest doing? Well Aaj Tak was showing the exclusive of … a repeat story about entertainment. As was Star News. And the bottom bar was “Breaking News… Kalam 4 prez!!!11 lol!!!” … or thereabouts.
If Kalam is president, I’ll be happy. If anyone else comes in, I won’t. When you see the other candidates, it’s obviously a step back.
Kalam 4 prez !
Please?
Background: BJP tried it in Jan and failed. Kalam said he’ll only go for it if there was a consensus. The left front doesn’t want Kalam. So both BJP-led UPA and Congress-ledUPA [which is supported by the left] announced their own candidates the past week. And only now does the UNPA drop this bomb. Kalam’s office categorically says “no wai!”
LOL-Indian-politics ? Hmm.
Gotta get food now. Expect a surprise at 8:43 pm.
Yeah, likewise. And that’s not just me. And why bother about Aaj Tak/India TV/ Star News… they’ll probably go ballistic if SRK and Amitabh meet in public. What? Terrorists blow up White House? Who cares! Look Badshaah aur Shenshaah ki shahi salaam!
