Yesterday was a terrible day.
On top of everything else, there was oppressive heat and humidity… 44 dec C throughout the day, even at night there was a hot and heavy wind blowing.
My ceiling fan failed.
And the desert cooler suddenly is seemingly ineffective, which explains why I had to sleep out the day.
I’m totally beat, and I didn’t go to the gym today, lest I be found sprawled after a heat shock or something.
And as for television… my only escape [because the computer is in the hottest room in the house]… Oh lordy… repeats of repeats of hindi soaps, movies no one would dare to watch even if they lay dying in agony and watching them was their chance of escape… and my newest arch-enemy… Indian news channels, were showing, all of them, for the entire day, a story of an Indian U-15 world cup winner (2000) who comitted suicide because he was frustrated at having no means to support his family. Cue hours and hours of coverage, interviews with friends, family, ex-teammates, current teammates, coaches, police, neighbours… you name it, they did it. Except let it go. The newspapers gave it sober coverage, between three paragraphs (inset into a story about Indian cricket) and a front page bottom article.
When they did take a break from advertising, they showed this. When they weren’t showing ads or this, guess which story was on? Whatever you’re thinking of, you’re wrong. Sahara [sponsors of the Indian cricket team] have a national news channel, called just that – Sahara Rashtriya (national) – and it was showing… *drumroll please* – The AMAZING HOOCH DRINKING BILLY GOAT !!!11!!!11111ONE111!!!11! … It must be me… I ask for the punishment, don’t I?
Hooray for incisive coverage. *YAWN*
Temperatures set to stay high today [feels less oppressive already though] and should drop by tomorrow.
I hope Bangalore turns into an oven overnight… *fingers crossed* … just because of the taunts [someone will mentioncable TV soon
]
36 deg C right now [91 F] … and it’s just 10 am.
Time for Andy Grove again.
Hooch drinking billy goat!!!!
Are you sure that wasn’t our “good friend” B…(dot dot dot)?
